Here’s a bunch of online resources I’ve used and recommend to educate yourself on startups, entrepreneurship, creative skills, wellbeing, and career development.
Physed’s Medical Education courses are now available ONLINE! Their 2018 BPT MCQ Revision Course features lectures and practice questions on all the major specialties for the RACP Written Exams. You can study anytime, at your own pace, whether you’re in Australia or not. Also useful for those sitting for the AMC exams and others wanting an affordable and practical update on Adult Medicine. edX.org hosts free courses on medtech, Python, machine learning, entrepreneurship, business management, foreign languages, art history and tons of other areas, from schools such as Harvard, MIT and others around the world. You can pay a small fee to upgrade (literally about $50USD for some of these courses!) to get marks on assignments you submit, interact with more involved learning scenarios, and get certification in your area of interest, which can prove useful when applying for a new job in certain areas eg. UX and web development.
CreativeLive.com was founded by Chase Jarvis, a former pre-med student turned self-taught professional photographer who formed CreativeLive as the world’s premier online education suite for upskilling in creativity, professionalism and business skills at home. Courses are bite-sized, info-packed lessons ranging from blogging to podcasting to book publishing to setting up an online crafts business to fashion photography. One of our favourite sites for online classes.*
MasterClass.com offers a range of creative classes taught by the experts. Want to learn television writing as taught by Shonda Rhimes, writer for Grey’s Anatomy? Or fashion design by Marc Jacobs? They’ve just released Cooking by Gordon Ramsay. Individual and All-Access Passes are available.
GanbaruMethod.com - Excellent online personal training, teaching and learning from the Muscle Mechanic himself, Coach Eugene Teo. (Yes, he is my brother. Yes, he does offline workshops too. Yes, he is awesome.)
Coursera.org - Another MOOC, world-renowned for coding, business, health and education courses, including music production (their Ableton Intro course is free!), language learning, and a current favourite, The Science of Wellbeing.
FutureLearn.com is yet another MOOC! Featuring courses from local and international universities on wellbeing, global health, sustainable fashion, and more.
